Suspenders and springs...
Since getting my Motorcycle suspension has been an issue… I am a bigger man, and the bike needs to handle my weight and the weight of gear I haul in order to be safe. About a year ago I had my Sprint in to a dealer to get the suspension tuned for a man of my mass  + gear.   They told me I didn’t need to worry about re valving, compression or rebound rates, etc…  In the end they...

About Me
I added an “About Joe” page that says who I am and what the hell I am doing on the internets.   I’ve had some people msg me in the past asking what the deal was… so enjoy. http://www.jk720.net/AboutMe  I also removed the link to the “Where is Joe” page for now, I’ll add it back up when I go on trips and such.   But in general its turned off.

Get lost in the woods easily?
Just wanted to mention to my CO friends and others around who often venture out into the unknown and want some piece of mind.  I just saw ACR electronics has released a newer/cheaper/smaller Personal Location Beacon.  I have a SARLink from ACR and carry it with me on the bike, and camping.   To me having something like this when you are hiking or away from the roads/cell towers/ or going out Solo...

Socially Misguided
To be socially conservative in your own life and practice is acceptable and admirable to stand by your devotions and not allow others to influence your personal life. On the other hand, to be socially conservative and force* those views be applied to all around you is among one of the most direct anti-American moves a US citizen can do.  It is directly in the face of freedom of choice, freedom of...

Helmets, Helmets, Helmets...
Been pondering a new helmet for this year on the bike.   Something that has better ventalation, less noisy, and in general is a bit more comfortable in very hot weather.   I thought my choice was going to be easy - a Schuberth C3.   But now it seems all kinds of new goodness is coming around. The Shoei NeoTec (I have a Shoei Multitec) - a vastly improved version of the helmet I have.  Nolan N104...

Motorcycle Envy
Last weekend I spent a little bit browsing at Foothills BMW/Triumph.  That place is like Willy Wonka’s factory to me.   So much I must own :)  From the BMW K1600GTL that costs more than many sedans (but looks more comfortable than any car I’ve seen!), to the Triumph Tiger 800 XC. I sat on a few bikes, and really liked the feel of a Tiger 800 (not the XC as I felt it was a bit too tall...

The honor of using an iPhone
In the same way people are proud to be an American because of the people who fought and died in its creation - should I also feel the same for my iPhone?  Who knows how many people died in building it?!  I feel honored people put their life on the line for me to be able to view LoL cats anywhere I go.

Summer on 2 wheels.
After spending a bit of time looking at my vacation time I have to burn this year, and the extra week+ I get toward the end of the year… I figure I have 3-4 weeks of vacation I can use this year and still carry over a couple. So because of that I think I am going to try and use the motorcycle quite a bit for a handful of adventures this spring/summer/fall.    Probably not more than one that...

Ankle better...
While on Saturday night my ankle was in more pain than I have ever felt before…  by Sunday morning I was at least able to walk on it, and by Sunday night I was walking with a minimal limp.   So we skipped going to the doc to see how this would play out and it seems it’s OK, just sore.    Still planning on starting a new workout routine/goals this week, just need to baby the left foot a...

Webcam of Denver is backup.  Had to use some spare parts to build a seperate machine to run this as my install under window server tanked.   Timelapse is being rebuilt after clearing all the stored images for the last day.

Ugh… seems my setup for my webcam has failed me… time to fire up some virtualbox and run this deal in Win7 as it was meant.  Should be back up in a day or so.

Ghost Pepper beer follow up
Last night I tried the Ghost Face Killer beer… As you can probably guess - it was hot.  But surprisingly tasty.  Real solid flavors of the variour peppers, and a good beer behind it. With that said, I consumed about 1/8th the beer.   It was impossible to drink a gulp in any rapid succession of it as the burn was so damn hot.    Fun experiment, and an awesome prank for someone drinking a...

Video (sped up 2x) showing the fireworks show over the 16th St mall over new years.  Estimated 150,000 people on the mall for this.  Fireworks went off at midnight and played for a few minutes while DJ’s were spinning below.  Sounded like a blast. I set the webcam to record video over that time as we were in WI while this was going on.  Gotta see the party down on the mall first hand next...

So after a weekend of prepping and tuning my little R/C car, I seem to be getting back into the rhythm of how to drive these silly things. Two Thursdays ago the fastest lap I could turn was ~14 seconds,  this last Saturday, it was a 12,  and on Sunday in the race I ran consistent 11.4 - 11.6  times.   The time to get on the pace with would be 10.5-8 consistently.   So just a little bit more.  I...

Videos posted
As part of putting all stuff “Joe” on this site, I re-encoded a bunch of video I shot and mixed back in the day up on this site.   They are under the Videos link at the top of the site. Now I will freely admit many of the videos are of so-so quality (production and camera work), or are just music/car vids.  But it’s still a fun record of some car/racing things I did back in the...

Dear Rick Perry,
I am not ashamed to admit that I don’t care about anyone’s religion (or lack thereof), lead paint induced delusions, or imaginary friends.  But you don’t need to be a sane American to know somethings wrong with this country when “freedom of religion” is mistaken as a mandate for everyone to celebrate your beliefs. When gays in the military is somehow stopping your...

Weee... website migration madness.
Migrated 10 websites, re-configured 3 custom built websites, restored  and cleaned up 8 databases, and all since 5pm.   Not bad at all.  The location that the time lapse and webcam upload to were migrated so they may not be updated until your DNS refreshes.

Old hobbies coming back to surface
R/C Car racing: So last night I bought up the totes of R/C racing gear that hasn’t been looked at in over a year.   Going to dig through and see what the deal is.   I may even check out a race at the local track on some Thursday coming up.  But i think the end goal is to sell most of it off as I don’t think I have time to really put into R/C right now. But the fact selling the gear...

Geeking out on cameras, servers, and scripting.
Putting the final touches on the scripts and processes to do the time lapse, and webcam capture.   There is quite a bit of detail that is behind the scenes to make this work as none of the systems I am using are meant to do what they are doing. Some insight: Basics: The camera (a free Microsoft LifeCam Cinema I had laying around) is connected via a 35ft USB active power extetion cable, to a...

Selling 18" Rims/Tires off R32.
(repost from craigslist, and VWVortex) I am selling some Enkei EKM3 rims, with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym rubber on them.  I recently traded in my MKV R32, and have no use for these rims/tires anymore as my new car is a Touareg. The rims and tires have 2.5 summers on them and have tons of tread life.  Only ~ 10,000 miles were put on them as I didn’t drive much in the months I had them on, and...

Recovery week
This last week was such a crazy time, I am happy to see the coming week is the calm before another storm of fun.   Just sitting here thinking of what all went down in the last 5 days: Presented to the Microsoft world wide operations and management team. Went to the Denver Film Festival for a couple movies Saw Puscifer rock the roof off the Paramount Flew to WI, and went to the best damn supper...

Where are the police in riot gear and pepper spray to suppress the out of control mob at Occupy H+M?  I can hear the riot like screams and chants for great value designer fashion echoing in the streets!  They just need a few more drums, some signs, no showers for 2 months, a staggeringly bad awareness of macro and global economic policy, and they would be hard to ID apart from the Occupy...

knowncitizen asked: What sorts of things you do to research the snow tires? I'm curious because I'm not really sure how to approach that particular problem. Our All Season tires were so new the last few years that we didn't need snow tires, but planning on doing them this year.

A small one day of ownership review of the 2012...
We’ve only owned the thing for a day or so, and only put 80 miles on it heading around town and going up to Nederland for some tasty eats and the Packer game.  But here is a quick little review of this vehicle: Torque - Torque - Torque.   By 2500 Rpm you have 400Ft/Lbs at your command.  I have never felt a vehicle pull at the asphalt like this does at nearly idle speeds.   The transmission...
